How did we get here?
In short, Konnekt started off in a bush near the Kristiine shopping center. On the road to success, there have been potatoes in balloons and business meetings with corporate giants. Full story coming soon.

The development never stops. We work hard every day to make your life more convenient. Over a two year period, we have tested multiple solutions. The current app has been in development since June of 2021.

Is it secure?
Absolutely! Konnekt uses Smart-ID to authenticate you and your personal data doesn’t reach further than that.

How is the security of the app ensured?
The prerequisite of adding cards to the Konnekt app is authenticating the user with Smart-ID - this allows us to make sure that you can only add your own cards to the app.
Beeping (validating) only works with an open phone, thus no unauthorized people can access your device. In addition, we have used Google’s services to make data transfer the safest possible.

I heard that Konnekt doesn’t work on iOS? Is it true?

Does Konnekt know what I’m doing?
Yes and No. We know exactly as much (or less) as cafeterias, libraries, etc know.

Does Konnekt know who I am?
Konnekt does not own any sensitive data about you. We only know your name, identification number and some other “random” data from your cards, which are needed to use Konnekt.

What technology does Konnekt use?
The key to Konnekt is NFC aka Near-field Communication. It’s an innovative and fast-growing contact-free technology, which allows mobile phone usage like never before. Using radiocommunication, a connection between a chip and a terminal is created from 2-3 cm apart.

Can I use Konnekt with a locked screen?
nfortunately not. A locked phone does not have power, thus not being able to power the NFC chip which is a crucial part in Konnekt.

What do I need to use Konnekt?
We have developed our app to work on any type of phone. If you have a NFC-compatible device then you can use Konnekt in cafeterias or libraries by touching the sticker. For NFC-incompatible devices or when NFC doesn’t work, scan the QR code instead.

Was programming the app difficult?
Yep! Since the app is communicating between different infrastructures, which works thanks to NFC technology, we are dealing with communication between systems, their compatibility, as well as data transfer on the bit level. Also our main priority is the security of our users and all sorts of technical standards, which is why we work closely with industry experts to deliver you the best app ever.
